It has been a hectic and emotionally tumultuous week for me. In many moments, I fell into the trap of murmuring and complaining about what I had yet to attain. I solely focused on what I had yet to have and failed to truly understand how much I do have.
It is unfortunate that it often takes the suffering prevalent in many others’ life to remind me of all the many blessings in my life…but hey, that is why I appreciate the gift of writing. When I read people’s stories and when I read back my journal entries, I remember that once upon a time, I once sat on the floor of my balcony in the hot African night air praying for the life that I am living right now.
I had a dream this morning and in it, I asked myself what I really wanted and in response, I said “To be me…authentically and unapologetically”. So, I hope that as you read this girls, you remember to be grateful, happy and ‘count your life by smiles and not tears’ – John Lennon.
